What Mobile In-Game Advertising Looks Like

Often times we get inquiring advertisers that are unsure of what Mobile In-Game Advertising looks like. It sometimes gets confused with console dynamic in-game advertising, where people think the ads take the form of billboards inside the mobile games. Although there are probably a handful of game developers that offer billboards in their games, Mobile In-Game Advertising predominantly takes the form of overlay banners that drop down in varying intervals, throughout game-play.

These overlay banners can typically be updated in realtime, geo-targeted, and have the ability to drive traffic to websites when clicked-on.

The platforms that commonly support Mobile In-Game Advertising, are on the Android devices, and Apple iOS devices.

To give you a visual, we’ve included several screenshots from the Hankook Tire campaign that we recently ran in various racing and driving mobile games.

As you can see from the campaign screenshots above, the advertisements drop down over the top portion of the game, and do so during menus or loading stages of the game. The standard banner size for mobile in-game advertising is 320×50, with less common games/ad networks offering 728×90 and 468×60 sizes.
