Xbox Live Gold Will be Free Over This Weekend

This weekend Xbox Live is celebrating its 10th anniversary, and as a result it’s giving away free Xbox Live Gold for the entire weekend (Nov 29-Dec 2, 2012).

It seems like just yesterday when I got my first Xbox as a teenage, but it was almost 10 years ago (Yeah, I’m that young) – man does time fly!

The promotion kicked off this Thursday, and will be running until Dec 2nd (Sunday). Microsoft is unlocking Xbox LIVE Gold for all Xbox 360 owners in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan and the United States.

Xbox Live Gold membership allows gamers to play their favourite games online, and play against other people around the World. Xbox Live Gold also enables certain apps and functions within the Xbox 360 dashboard, for example marketplace and game downloads.

According to the Xbox Live website, the current listed price of an Xbox Live Gold membership is £39.99 for 12 months. This is approximately $64 USD, if using today’s exchange rate.

This promotion is good news for lucky companies who are scheduled to advertise within the Xbox 360 this weekend via Console Integration. This weekend will see a large increase in gamers connecting to the internet and Xbox Live in order to utilize this promotion, which means more eyeball hours.

For those of you that don’t know, Console Integration is an advertising channel that we offer, that takes place within the Xbox 360 environment, and is displayed to people who are connected to Xbox Live.
